Teaching Philosophy
I create classroom and lab environments that challenge students to learn and grow (e.g., training students to think like scientists, teaching communication skills) while maintaining identity-safety (e.g., making material personally relevant, using diverse teaching tools and evaluations, emphasizing personal commitment). I use teaching as a platform for providing knowledge, guiding students to develop valuable skills, and creating a learning environment where all students feel they belong and can be successful.
